Holistic Spa Services vs. Medi Spa Services: The Difference, and When to Use Each

If you’re currently looking to improve your health, appearance, or stress levels, it’s likely that you’ve considered using spa services to do so. There are a variety of choices out there, from holistic services to medical services, and you may be wondering which services are right for you.

Today, I’m going to cover what each is, the difference between them, and how to make the right choice to get the results you’re looking for.

Holistic Spa Services

Holistic spa services are what I specialize in, and they include everything from lavish and detailed  massages, stimulating facials,  to energy healing. They take a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual approach to health and beauty. In fact, the definition of “holistic” is “characterized by comprehension of the parts of something as intimately interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole.”

Some of the services I offer are:

  • Ashiatsu massages

  • Reflexology massages

  • Polarity therapy

  • Holistic Facials

  • And more!

MediSpa Services

Medispa services use modern technologies to get results fast and focus mainly on cosmetics. You’ve likely seen these services advertised everywhere, from the radio to television, and they can include:

  • Genius Radio Frequency Microneedling

  • Laser hair removal

  • Laser resurfacing treatments

Which to Choose

This question is complicated because my answer will depend on a number of factors, such as

  1. What your long term goal is,

  2. How much time do you have to achieve it,

  3. How much you are willing to pay,

  4. And more!

Medispa services generally get you results much faster, but they are more expensive, invasive, and artificial. They should generally be used for cosmetic procedures, though they are sometimes used for other reasons, as well.

Holistic spa services, however, focus on getting results over time and healing your body. Individual sessions are usually cheaper, and they can be used for mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual changes/healing. They focus on improving YOU as a whole—not only one part of you.

Using this info, you will be able to make the choice between these two types of services and which is right for you.

A great example of the difference between these two services (and their common goal) is the difference between my facial services and my friend Meg’s laser facials. Meg’s Lutronic ULTRA™ lasers “rebuild glowing, healthy skin through gentle, non-ablative fractionated treatments. They treat mild to moderate lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, melasma, shrink pore size, skin tone/texture irregularities, active acne, rosacea, mild to moderate scarring, and promote collagen production.” With Meg’s Laser Facials you can see a change in as little as one appointment, and make leaps in your skin's appearance after completing one of her recommended packages.

Similarly, my facials and product recommendations accomplish similar goals over time and are a great way to maintain healthy skin, through cleansing and enzyme masks to encourage cell turnover and decongest the skin.

They are similar procedures, but are done in very different ways! They both have a place in achieving skincare goals.
