5 Skincare Tips - We Should All Be Practicing

Time and time again, clients come in unhappy with their skin and wanting to see changes. Today we are sharing with you the first few things we would like you to address to get your skin on the right path. If you are already doing these things, we applaud you!

  1. Moisturize your skin twice a day. News flash! Oily skin needs hydration too... We see this all the time. “I break out. My pores are large. I’m oily.” The truth is, often, the skin produces extra oil because it NEEDS more hydration. So give it what it wants and find a moisturizer to suit your skincare needs. You can opt for a lightweight or oil-free product.

  2. Wear sunscreen daily. Rain, shine, and everything in between, you should have sunscreen on your face, neck, chest, hands, and arms. If you aren’t physically blocking the sun with material or shade, sunscreen will help slow aging and keep dark spots at bay. For our sunshine lovers who want Vitamin D absorption, go for it. 10-15 minutes of direct sun on the skin can be great; we recommend doing it when the sun is low first thing in the morning or evening. Cover up and apply sunscreen if you are sitting out for more than that.

  3. Remove makeup before bed. We shouldn’t have to say this one… Not only would you be going to bed with makeup on, but you are also going to bed with bacteria, dirt, pollution, germs, and sweat from your day. Leaving your makeup on overnight can also clog your pores and cause breakouts. Please wash your face at night so your skin can breathe and your pillow doesn’t turn into a petri dish.

  4. Try a toner after cleansing. This step can help to balance your skins PH levels and make sure your face is nice and clean. Choosing the right toner can also help reduce oiliness or even support and heal your skin.

  5. Wash makeup brushes regularly. Similarly to our pillows, our brushes can quickly turn into Petri dishes. Our brushes aren’t meant to be forever. When in doubt, it’s time to replace them.
