Tips for Promoting Feng Shui in the Office

If you’re not familiar with the concept of feng shui, it encompasses creating a harmony between your living space and the natural environment.

I love incorporating aspects of feng shui in all my living spaces, from my bedroom to my kitchen, but today I’m going to be going over exactly how to promote feng shui in the office - from decor to use to how to set up your space.

Entryway

The entryway of any space is central to its feng shui, as the entryway is where all energies (both good and bad) and opportunities enter. Making your entryway particularly inviting, clean, and elegant is a great way to promote feng shui in the office.

In addition, make sure your entryway is clearly marked as your office. This will help set the intentions of the room and keep you focused as you work inside, as well as ensure that anyone entering knows they are entering your work space!

Plants

Plants are a great way to promote feng shui in the office because they come directly from the natural environment and represent growth and life. Green plants are particularly helpful because of their rich color, and can help set the tone for the entire office space.

I recommend picking up a few plants in varying sizes to place around your office to help establish great energy. A good rule of thumb is to make sure they are visible from any vantage point you might have while sitting. (For example, you don’t want them all to be behind your desk where you can’t see them while working.)

Commanding Position

A commanding position is one of the most important aspects of feng shui, and it is the position where you can see the most of your space. Positions like sitting at a desk facing a wall or window are a no-no for this practice, as you can only see little (if any) of your space.

Instead, position yourself so you can see the entryway, any furniture you have, and the decor around the room. This will put you in the “commanding position” and give you feelings of power and control over your own space.

Broken Objects

Broken objects are notorious for depleting the feng shui of any room or space - so ensuring that anything broken, dirty, or worn out is replaced is extremely important in the office.

Likely culprits include things such as old/torn papers, broken pens or pencils, and unbalanced desks.

Poison Arrows

Lastly, poison arrows (also known as “Sha Chi”) commonly invade office spaces.

By definition, poison arrows are bits of negative energy that attack the positive energy in the room - and they can be found when sharp angles are pointed at you.

You can easily fix this by going around the room and moving items of furniture that have sharp corners (like desks or chairs) so their corners aren’t facing you where you usually sit.

I hope this post helps you incorporate feng shui into your office and other spaces in your home. It has made a tremendous difference in my own life, and I’m so grateful to share my tips with you!
